In the case pertaining to the alleged suicide by 26-year-old Sukhwant Singh from Sangrur, the Mohali police today arrested Rakesh Kumar, managing director of the Phase I-based immigration consultancy, Rudraksh Group, and its manager Deepak.
Rakesh and Deepak have been arrested on a charge of abetment of suicide. A case in this regard has been registered under Section 306 of the IPC at Phase I police station. 
The victim had reportedly taken poison at around 4 pm in front of the office of the immigration consultancy service on December 3. He was taken to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Sukhwant Singh’s kin had alleged that he was upset as the management of Rudraksh Group was not returning Rs 2.5 
lakh, which it had taken from him around two years ago on the pretext of sending him to Canada on a work visa. 
The victim’s uncle, Sampuran Singh, had alleged that the company had neither sent Sukhwant to Canada nor returned the amount. “After facing harassment for over a year, my nephew ended his life,” he said.
Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said during investigation, the police found that Rakesh Kumar and Deepak had dealt with the victim during the process. 
“We arrested the duo today. Investigations are on,” said the SSP. 
Sukhwant Singh was a resident of Chatha Gobindpura village in Sangrur and was working as a development officer at a private bank in Patran.
