In the case of the murder of CTU employee Abhishek Guleria, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Suresh Arora has constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further investigations.
The SIT members are Shashi Prabha, Inspector General of Police (Crime 1); Dhruman Nimbale, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Intelligence); and Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal. Shashi Prabha will head the SIT.
Sources said the SIT would submit its report to the DGP within four days.
Meanwhile, Lt Col (retd) BS Sandhu, owner of Forest Hill Resort and World Wide Immigration Consultancy Services, is yet to join the police investigations.
Mohali SP Harbir Singh Atwal said the police went to Lt Col Sandhu’s house, offices and some of his kin’s places. “Lt Col Sandhu and his kin were not found at any place. He is yet to join our investigations,” said SP Atwal.
Cause of death: Drowning
The preliminary post-mortem report stated that Abhishek Guleria died due to drowning, claimed the sources. “No injury marks were found on the victim’s body during the post-mortem,” said the sources. The police said that the viscera have been sent for chemical analysis. Today, the post-mortem was conducted at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala by a panel of doctors.
Victim last seen near Forest Hill Resort
A CCTV footage from the camera installed at the resort’s entrance showed the victim walking in an apparent inebriated condition on road near the resort’s gate. “The victim can be seen walking on the road, but then he ‘disappeared’ as he could not be traced in the footages of CCTVs installed at other buildings nearby. We are trying to establish what had happened after he crossed the resort’s gate,” said the police.
Notably, Abshishek had gone missing on March 13 after a party with his acquaintances, including a cousin, in Nayagaon. The police recovered his highly decomposed body, stuffed in a sack, which was wrapped in plastic bag from the deserted area along the Pinjore-Baddi road on March 24. The police have already arrested three employees — Gurwinder Singh Bains, Tarsem Lal and Balwinder Singh — of the resort and a case under Sections 302, 365, 201 and 120B of the IPC has been registered against them.
