CTU staffer’s murder: Probe by independent agency sought
Tribune News Service Mohali
While Lt Col BS Sandhu, owner of Forest Hill Resort, is yet to join the police investigation in the murder case of CTU employee Abhishek Guleria, his staff claimed that he (Sandhu) had been hospitalised following the registration of a case against him by the Mohali police.
However, Lt Col Sandhu’s staff did not reveal his location while addressing a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club in Sector 27 on Thursday afternoon.
Demanding a CBI inquiry or an independent inquiry into the case, Rajiv Bajaj, director of World Wide Immigration Consultancy Services Ltd, said in an unjustified manner, to fulfill the agenda of some people, the Punjab Police had falsely implicated and arrested Devinder Sandhu in the Inderpreet Chadha suicide case and now the same is happening with his father Col BS Sandhu in the Nayagaon murder case.
Bajaj alleged that Sandhu’s name was wrongly implicated in the FIR registered by the police without any concrete facts. “At first, it is a potential accidental death, not a murder, which is likely to be confirmed in the post-mortem report. Secondly, the deceased has no relation with Col Sandhu. The police is falsely implicating Col Sandhu in the case, giving it the name of a murder,” alleged Bajaj, adding that being a deep-routed conspiracy hatched at the highest-level, the matter needs to be investigated by an independent agency like the CBI or the Haryana or Himachal Police.
He also alleged that nobody had seen their three employees, who have been under arrest in the case, dumping the body along the Pinjore-Baddi road. “The police have concocted a story,” alleged Bajaj.
When contacted, Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said if Lt Col Sandhu was innocent, then why he was remaining elusive. “Our officers are going to his residences, offices and other places continuously but he and his kin are not being found at any place,” said SSP Chahal.
On being asked about any progress in investigation in the case by the SIT, SSP Chahal said the probe was on. “So far, nothing specific is there to tell,” said SSP Chahal.
Meanwhile, the court extended the remand of the three accused, Gurwinder Singh Bains, Tarsem Lal and Balwinder Singh, by two more days.
